— The 6 pillars

Real accessibility, not cosmetic.

We don't just add a pretty widget. We comply with technical standards to the letter and go further where it makes sense for the diner.

Pillar 01

Voice reading

Floating button on every menu. The diner taps and hears the entire menu in their language: categories, dishes, descriptions, prices and allergens. No installation needed, uses the device's native voice.

Pillar 02

EU 1169/2011 pictograms

The 14 official allergens with custom-designed icons, translated into 9 languages. Clear distinction between contains and traces. Tooltip with detailed description on hover.

Pillar 03

Allergen filter

The diner marks their allergens at the start of the menu. Dishes containing them automatically fade with a visible warning. Those with traces are flagged with a warning symbol. Available on Premium and VIP plans.

Pillar 04

Visual adjustments

Three text sizes, WCAG AAA high contrast mode (black / yellow / cyan) and motion reduction for users sensitive to animations. Preferences are remembered between visits to the same restaurant.

Pillar 05

9 languages, one menu

Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Catalan, Galician and Basque. The entire interface, allergen names and accessibility notices change to the diner's language with one click.

Pillar 06

Contrast validator

When the restaurant customises their menu colours, we calculate the WCAG ratio in real time and warn if any combination fails. Impossible to break accessibility by accident.

— How diners experience it

Three diners, three barriers removed.

They're not real people — they're user personas. But the flow you see below is exactly what happens on the menu of any restaurant using Q'aproveche.

María, blind

Visual impairment
  1. Scans the QR with the app on her phone that reads the screen.
  2. Taps the Listen to menu button in the accessibility widget.
  3. She hears the entire menu in Spanish: dish name, description, price and allergens. She decides what to order without needing the waiter.

Carlos, coeliac

Food allergy
  1. Opens the restaurant's digital menu.
  2. Taps "Do you have any allergies?" and marks the Gluten allergen.
  3. Dishes with gluten fade instantly. Those with traces are flagged with a yellow warning. He orders with confidence.

Anna, German tourist

Language + low vision
  1. Changes the menu to German with one tap.
  2. Increases text size and activates high contrast mode.
  3. Allergens appear in German with their universal pictograms. She understands the entire menu without asking for help.
— Regulatory framework

We work with the standard in front of us, not behind our backs.

No marketing. We publish our accessibility statement with what we already comply with and what we don't yet. If an inspector calls at your door, you have the documentation and the real status.

A digital menu can be a barrier or a welcome.
You choose.

Behind every user scanning a QR code is a person. Sometimes they see poorly. Sometimes they can't hear. Sometimes they have an allergy that puts their life at risk. Sometimes they're just passing through and don't speak your language. Q'aproveche looks after everyone, without you having to do anything different.

Have legal questions about your obligation to comply with the EAA? Get in touch and we'll guide you with no obligation.
